Coming Home
After living many years in California,
away from New England, Carolyn and her husband Tom found Mill
Cottage in the Berkshires, built in 1845 near the 1806 red brick
Hurlbut Paper Co. mill in an area now designated as a national
historic area. Through the years they had spent all available
vacation time in England, often exchanging houses for a month,
and hoped to retire there. When that turned out to be not feasible,
they chose the Berkshires as being most like their ideal, providing
what they loved about rural England.
Mill Cottage became theirs in mid-1996,
and a year later they began to transform their home into a country
bed and breakfast - to share their love of the Berkshires, its
beauty and attractions with others who are eager for the ideal
break-away to enjoy the music, cultural opportunities, relaxation,
shopping and outdoor activities that are all available here.
